News

new website, developed by Noveltis for ESA, is now open. The interactive website offers the possibility to display OLTC elevation tables onboard ESA Sentinel-3 SRAL altimeters.

Two recent expeditions that took scientists 26 000 km across the Atlantic Ocean have returned critical information to make sure that the Copernicus Sentinel satellites are delivering accurate data about the state of our oceans.

The extended planned maintenance of the Data Hub infrastructure on 5 and 6 March 2018 has been closed, and all services have been resumed as of 09:00 CET today.

Infrastructure maintenance activities are scheduled on Monday 05 March from 07:30 UTC to 19:00 UTC.

Due to two separate Ground Segment anomalies on 24 and 25 February 2018, NRT/NTC/STC Level-1 and Level-2 user data could be degraded or missing.

Due to a SLSTR decontamination and on-board software maintenance activity, SLSTR mission data will be unavailable during the following periods:

  • SLSTR VIS: from 2018-02-15 09:20:00 UTC to 2018-02-19 12:42:00 UTC. Absolute orbits impacted from 10404 (relative orbit 36 of cycle 28) to 10463 (relative orbit 95 of cycle 28)
  • SLSTR IR: from 2018-02-15 09:20:00 UTC to 2018-02-21 21:40:00 UTC. Absolute orbits impacted from 10404 (relative orbit 36 of cycle 28) to 10497 (relative orbit 129 of cycle 28).
The Copernicus Research and User Support (RUS) team announces an upcoming webinar on Ocean Colour Monitoring with Sentinel-3.

Due to an OLCI S09 calibration activity performed on 14 February 2018, the instrument user data could be degraded or missing from sensing time 09:49:38 to 09:54:38 UTC on 14 February (absolute orbit 10390, relative orbit 22 of cycle 28).

Due to a Ground Segment anomaly on 15 February 2018, NRT/NTC/STC user data could be degraded or missing.

The S-3A Altimetry Processing Baseline (PB) 2.27 was deployed on 14 February 2018 at the ESA Sentinel-3 Land centres.

Additional information on the PB 2.27 content is available from the S-3A STM product notice:

As previously announced in the news published on 7 February 2018, we are pleased to announce the opening of the Sentinels GNSS RINEX Pre-operational Hub.
Due to a Ground Segment anomaly on 9 February 2018, NRT/NTC/STC user data could be degraded or missing.

Due to a Sentinel-3A ground segment anomaly on 07 February 2018, NRT/NTC/STC user data could be degraded or missing.

A Sentinel-3A ground segment anomaly on 10 February 2018 has now been solved.

Due to a Sentinel-3A ground segment anomaly on 10 February 2018, SRAL NRT and STC L1/L2 products could be affected.
Due to an activity to decontaminate the SLSTR instrument aboard Sentinel-3A and on-board software maintenance, SLSTR data will be partially unavailable from 15 to 20 February.

The Sentinel-3B satellite scheduled for launch this spring, will be flying 30 seconds apart from its twin, Sentinel-3A, during the commissioning phase. This temporary tandem arrangement is to obtain better cross-calibration between instruments, thus reducing uncertainties in the multi-satellite time series and ensuring an overall high data quality.

In response to scientific user recommendations and in agreement with the European Commission, a new GNSS L1B RINEX user product has been officially released for the Sentinel-1, -2 and -3A satellites from the Copernicus Data Hub service.
Due to a Sentinel-3A ground segment anomaly on 05 February 2018, now resolved, NRT products from orbit #10259 to #10261 have been delayed; nominal production was fully restored starting from orbit 10262.

Due to a Sentinel-3A ground segment anomaly on 05 February 2018, NRT products from orbit #10258 could be delayed. Investigation of the issue is ongoing.
