Due to a planned out of plane orbit manoeuvre foreseen for 13 December 2017, Sentinel-3 data from SLSTR, OLCI and SRAL will be impacted.

Due to plane orbit correction manoeuvres that started on 29 November 2017 from 09:13 to 09:27 UTC, the following Sentinel-3 production problems occurred:

  • All SLSTR products from 09:08:25 UTC to 10:59:23 UTC are missing.
  • A possible degradation of data quality encountered on SRAL products during the time frame of the manoeuvre.
  • OLCI products should not be impacted as the instrument was not acquiring at the time.

Due to a Ground Segment anomaly on 14 November 2017, some data were lost for Sentinel-3A. The absolute sensing orbit involved were 9079 and 9080, i.e. relative orbits 251 and 252 of cycle 24.

Due to Radio Frequency Interference events with other spacecraft on 24 August and 11 and 13 September 2017, some data was lost for Sentinel-3A during the downlink orbits 7914, 8172 and 8194.

A constellation of small satellites that provide data on Earth's ice and soil moisture content to complement the Sentinel fleet took the top prize at this year's Copernicus Masters Competition.

Working together for three decades, ESA and Eumetsat have been instrumental in positioning Europe as a leader in observing Earth from space. Continuing to share a vision, the two organisations have signed a statement that will strengthen Europe in meteorology and climate monitoring, and that will help to take the Copernicus programme into the future.

Due to an anomaly with the OLCI instrument, Sentinel-3A OLC NRT Level-1, 2 and 3 data products acquired from 04 November 2017 at 09:05 UTC sensing time (orbit #8936) to 05 November 2017 UTC at 07:29 UTC sensing time (#orbit 8950) were delayed.

We are pleased to announce that Sentinel-2B and Sentinel-3A SRAL are now available on the Copernicus Services Data Hub.

Due to spectral calibration activities for the OLCI instrument, on 04 and 05 November OLCI data may be affected.

Planned impacted absolute orbit: 8935, 8936, 8937, 8946.

BELSPO (the Federal Science Policy Office) has launched Terrascope, Belgium's contribution to the Sentinel Collaborative Ground Segment (CollGS). The CollGS is a series of agreements between ESA and its Member States and international partners to offer data distribution platforms for the Sentinel missions.

Maintenance activities affecting the infrastructure of the Data Hubs are scheduled to take place on 25 and 26 October 2017.

Due to an anomaly with the OLCI instrument, Sentinel-3A OLC Level-1 and 2 data products acquired between 01:03:50 and 12:06:34 UTC on 16 October 2017 are missing in both NRT and NTC timeliness.

In this special edition, senior scientist at France's Collecte Localisation Satellites, Marie-Hélène Rio, joins the show to discuss how data on ocean surface currents by the Sentinel-3 satellite mission are used by people working at sea.

An unplanned maintenance of the Sentinels data distribution infrastructure has been required starting on 26 September at 11:49 UTC, resulting in a downtime of the Data Hub Services.

Users are informed that the maintenance activity scheduled for today, 12 September 2017, mentioned in previous news, has been postponed to tomorrow 13 September from 8:30 CEST to 18:30 CEST.

From 4 September 2017, the Copernicus Data Hub Service provides a catalogue view of the products published on the Open Access Hub in the form of Comma-Separated Value (CSV) files.

A series of maintenance activities aiming to upgrade the infrastructure hosting the data hub services, are scheduled on:

  • Wednesday, 6 September 2017
  • Thursday, 7 September 2017
  • Tuesday, 12 June 2017

The Copernicus Sentinel-3A satellite saw the temperature at the top of Hurricane Harvey on 25 August 2017 at 04:06 GMT as the storm approached the US state of Texas.
A maintenance activity on the Open Access Hub service, including API Hub, is scheduled on Wednesday, 23 August 2017 from 07:00 UTC to 16:00 UTC.

The ESA Atmospheric Validation Data Center (EVDC) has been migrated to a new portal at evdc.esa.int with upgraded functionalities and new tools. The portal offers access to both Cal/Val data and Satellite products for specific missions. The user community is invited to exploit these new features and to contact the EVDC team (nadirteam@nilu.no) for any further information.
