The Copernicus DEM, a digital surface model that captures terrain and infrastructure on Earth, is now accessible via the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem.

The DEM is an element of the Copernicus Contributing Missions (CCM) activity, which is managed by ESA from its centre for Earth observation (ESRIN) on behalf of the European Commission.

The migration of the DEM forms part of a gradual relocation of CCM data to the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem that is creating a central point of access to systematic CCM collections and observations from the Copernicus Sentinels.

This set of systematic CCM collections includes optical high resolution and VHR European and Sub-Saharan Africa coverages, urban atlas or digital elevation models at European and global scales, as well as synthetic aperture radar imagery for sea ice monitoring.

Discover more about the Copernicus DEM in this infographic:

You can keep up to date with the availability of the DEM, as well as other systematic CCM collections, via the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem CCM collections page.

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3B In-Plane Manoeuvre, SLSTR products degradation is expected for sensing time from 15/05/2024T07:30:27 to 15/05/2024T07:41:00 UTC.

Dear CDSE users,

We would like to inform you that on May 16th from 21:00 to 23:00 CEST we plan to perform an upgrade of the Identity system.
During the works, it will be possible to log in and generate tokens along with downloading products from the CDSE catalogue.
The impact of this upgrade will be an unavailability of registering and making changes in user profile, for example password change. Any changes made to the user profile during the works will be lost and will not be processed afterwards.
Please do not register a new account or make changes to your profile during the time window mentioned above.
We will make every effort to ensure that the works go as quickly and smoothly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3A In-Plane Manoeuvre, SLSTR products degradation is expected for sensing time from 08/05/2024T07:50:45 to 08/05/2024T08:00:35 UTC.

We are pleased to announce a new processing baseline ID for Copernicus Sentinel-3 concerning the following products:

OLCI L1 products OL_1_EFR

OLCI L1 products OL_1_ERR

The new Processing Baseline includes:

  • A new spectral temporal model has been implemented, further recommendation from the OLCI/SYN Quality Working Group, to correct the OLCI spectral response drift (of up to 3 nm) observed over time.

  • To follow the recommendation from GCOS, a new Solar Irradiance Spectrum of TSIS-1 HRSR 2021 has been implemented, instead of Thuillier 2003.

  • The change of pressure level for the relative humidity (rh@950hPa in ECMWF files) has been accounted for

  • Update of the radiometric and geometric calibration auxiliary files

It shall be noted that the baseline collection has been increased to 04.00.00 and that the reference version of the OLCI L1 IPF has been upgraded from 6.17.0 to 6.19.0.

The new processing baseline will be deployed on 06/05/2024 for Copernicus Sentinel-3A and Sentinel-3B.

This same processing baseline is also being used for the OLCI historical re-processing campaign conducted at EUMETSAT which will be released in the near future.

Network component update

We would like to inform you about an upcoming scheduled maintenance window that will be taking place on 07-05-2024 between 20:00 and 22:00 CEST.
The maintenance will take place due to the scheduled update of network component.

During the maintenance window, there might be temporary service disruptions of specific components, which may result in the difficulties mentioned below:

  • The network component update is planned without CDSE platform disruption; however, there is a risk of temporary unavailability.

We will make every effort to ensure that the works go as quickly and smoothly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 on demand processing update

We would like to inform you about an upcoming maintenance window that will be taking place on 07-05-2024 between 09:00 and 15:00 CEST.
The maintenance will take place due to the update of Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 on demand processing service.

During the maintenance window, there will be On Demand Processing service unavailability for Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 products.

We will make every effort to ensure that the works go as quickly and smoothly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.

  • User Forum

Maintenance Schedule

07/05/2024 08:00 - 12:00

Expected Downtime

During the maintenance period, the listed components will experience temporary downtimes. We anticipate minimal disruption and will strive to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3A SRAL calibration, SRAL products degradation is expected for sensing time from 27/04/2024T21:21:02 to 27/04/2024T21:21:08 UTC and from 27/04/2024T21:21:14 to 27/04/2024T21:21:20 UTC.

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3B Lunar observation, the following products degradation is expected:

  • Copernicus Sentinel-3B SLSTR: products degradation is expected for sensing time from 24/04/2024 11:21:09 to 24/04/2024 12:11:39 00:50:30

  • Copernicus Sentinel-3B OLCI: products degradation is expected for sensing time from 24/04/2024 12:05:44 to 24/04/2024 12:11:39 00:05:55

  • Copernicus Sentinel-3B SRAL: products degradation is expected for sensing time from 24/04/2024 11:22:09 to 24/04/2024 11:53:17 00:31:08

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3B In-Plane Manoeuvre, SLSTR products degradation is expected for sensing time from 25/04/2024T07:45:27 to 25/04/2024T07:56:00 UTC.

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3A In-Plane Manoeuvre, SLSTR products degradation is expected for sensing time from 24/04/2024T08:54:21 to 24/04/2024T09:05:09 UTC.

We are pleased to announce a new processing baseline ID for Copernicus Sentinel-3 concerning the following products:

· SLSTR L1 products SL_1_RBT

The new Processing Baseline includes:

  • Inclusion of an Online Quality check parameter in SLSTR L1 product. To ease the distinction between nominal products and the ones affected by an operational anomaly, the definition of the Online Quality check parameter – included in the manifest file – has been reviewed. This parameter can now be associated with three different values: FAILED (in case of Manoeuvre, important percentage of missing data on all bands, …), DEGRADED (in case of pointing issue or inappropriate/missing VISCAL or NAVATT files) or PASSED (nominal conditions).
  • Improvement of the SLSTR surface classification. This evolution is focusing on the coastline classification, considering the whole pixel field of view (FOV defined by 6 corners) acquired by SLSTR and no longer the center of the pixel. Following this modification, coastline is no longer discontinuous and is now defined as the interface between land and ocean areas but also as the interface between land and inland water pixels. Two additional parameters (count_water and count_water_orphan) have also been added in the flags_xx.nc file and are providing, for each coastline pixel, the number of FOV corners over water.

The land, ocean and inland waters classification are not impacted by this evolution. The tidal classification may be impacted over large discharges area:  some pixels inside the tidal area may be missed by the tidal classification.

The new processing baseline will be deployed on 23/04/2024 for Copernicus Sentinel-3A and Sentinel-3B.

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3B In-Plane Manoeuvre, SLSTR products degradation is expected for sensing time from 17/04/2024T07:55:39 to 17/04/2024T08:05:44 UTC.
