Compute pseudo-random error
The "Compute Pseudo-Random Error" process is part of the SST processing.
During SST processing two different errors are computed:
- Symmetric errors, due to water vapour loading, are first accumulated. (Note that unlike other SST products, a path dependence is taken into account in the computation of N2 errors).
- Asymmetric errors due to cloud and land contamination are accumulated.
These variables, added to the radiometric noise, are combined to provide an overall estimate of the retrieval error, noted as the SST pseudo-random error.
This process is performed identically for each SST parameter (N2, N3R, N3, D2 and D3 SST products).
