Part of the auxiliary data required for Sentinel-5P Methane (CH4) originates from Suomi-NPP, a satellite that is operated by NOAA. This satellite entered a non-nominal state on 2023-07-26. As a consequence, science data won't be available to the Sentinel-5P processing system. More updates about the recovery will be published as available.
In addition to a significant impact on the CH4 data, some impact should be expected for the aerosol layer height product. At the moment the offline aerosol layer height product is using the near-real time methods to mask clouds from the incoming data. The resulting aerosol layer height product is still considered to be of usable quality. The unavailability also causes a minor quality degradation for the CLOUD offline product and subsequently for all other products that use CLOUD offline data as input, namely the O3, HCHO, SO2, and the O3-TCL offline products. However this impact is not critical and the mentioned products can still be considered of good quality
