The Urban Thematic Exploitation Platform (U-TEP) has now entered the pre-operations phase.

The Coastal Thematic Exploitation Platform  (C-TEP) has now entered the pre-operations phase. The existing pilot projects will be focused on exploitation of the Earth Observation data to generate and analyze indicators for aquaculture, water quality, integration of tools for information extraction from Earth Online data archives and altimetry analysis.

There will be a major maintenance of the Sentinels Data hub services on Tuesday, 01 August 2017. The maintenance window will start at 06:30 UTC (08:30 CEST) and is expected to finish at 16:00 UTC (18:00 CEST).

The European Union's Copernicus Sentinel-1 mission is providing far more images than previous generations of synthetic aperture radar satellites, bringing many significant advantages. One of them is determining the difference between naturally-occurring and polluting oil on the ocean surface.

Referring to the news of 14 July 2017, users are informed that the dissemination of Sentinel-2B products in the Sentinel-2B PreOps Hub resumed in the morning on Monday 17 July.

With Italy suffering high temperatures and drought, wildfires have broken out including blazes that are ravaging the slopes of Mount Vesuvius near Naples. Using images taken by the Copernicus Sentinel-2B satellite on 12 July 2017, the animation combines different sensor bands to highlight the numerous separate fires around this iconic volcano and the smoke billowing over the surrounding area.

As a consequence of a ground segment anomaly, the publication of Sentinel-2B products in the S2B PreOps Hub is temporarily interrupted as of today 14 July, with last available products dated 13 July around 06:30 UTC sensing time. The data dissemination is expected to resume as of Monday 17 July.

Over the last few months, a chunk of Antarctica's Larsen C ice shelf has been hanging on precariously as a deep crack cut across the ice. Witnessed by the Copernicus Sentinel-1 mission, a lump of ice more than twice the size of Luxembourg has now broken off, spawning one of the largest icebergs on record and changing the outline of the Antarctic Peninsula forever.
