Denmark scorched

Sweden in Flames

23 July 2018

With Europe in the grip of a heatwave and little rain, the scorched ground and dry vegetation is succumbing to fire. Fires have now broken out as far as the Arctic Circle, in Sweden. This animation shows images from the Copernicus Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 missions.

Users are informed that Sentinel-2 products publication is back to nominal operations as of 20 July.

Sentinel-5P product dissemination has been re-activated. Currently, everything is working nominally.

Looming iceberg

19 July 2018

This satellite image, captured by Sentinel-2A on 9 July 2018, shows a huge iceberg perilously close to the village of Innaarsuit on the west coast of Greenland. If the berg breaks apart, waves resulting from the falling ice could wash away parts of the village.
After the maintenance activity on 18 July 2018, processing activities have been reactivated successfully in the afternoon of 18 July.
A Data Hub software upgrade activity is foreseen on the Sentinel-3 Pre-Operations Data Hub on 19 July 2018 from 09:00 to 10:00 UTC.

Due to a circulation delay of some mandatory auxiliary data, the production of Sentinel-3 SRAL STC products acquired between 01:29 and 22:30 UTC on 14 July 2018 is delayed and under recovery.

In preparation for the validation of the next set of Level-2 products there will be a maintenance of the Sentinel-5P ground segment, with a interruption of the Sentinel-5P Near Real Time data flow on 18 July 2018 between 08:00 to 15:00 UTC.

Due to an anomaly on the OLCI instrument from 13 July 2018, 18:29 UTC  to 14 July 2018, 09:59 UTC, the Level-1 and Level-2 data are missing.
