On 11 October, some 95 km from the Saudi city of Jeddah, an Iranian-owned oil tanker was damaged, resulting in the loss of oil in the Red Sea. The Copernicus Sentinels are being used to monitor the resulting oil spill.

Due to an issue at Ground Segment level on 30 October all Near Real Time, Short time Critical and Non Time Critical data products related to Copernicus Sentinel-3A orbit#19272 are missing from the following sensing time: 05:20:00 to 07:00 UTC.
Reprocessed CH4 data products ('RPRO' tag in filename) have now been made available on the Copernicus Sentinel-5P Pre-operations Data Hub.

Service maintenance activities are scheduled on the Copernicus Open Access Hub on Monday and Wednesday.

Due to maintenance performed on the ground on 23 October, the availability in the Data Hubs of some Copernicus Sentinel-2A products from sensing orbit 22638 to 22641 and Copernicus Sentinel-2B products from sensing orbit 13728 to 13732 is delayed.

Due to a network contingency that occurred on 22 October, the nominal production of several Copernicus Sentinel-2A products from sensing orbit 22626 to 22630 and Copernicus Sentinel-2B products from sensing orbit 13718 to 13722 was prevented.

Have you got a great idea for producing new and interesting algorithms, to process Earth Observation data?

Due to two Copernicus Sentinel-3B collision avoidance manoeuvres executed on 10 October reduced data quality is expected in the following sensing UTC time intervals:

  • OLCI and SRAL data and all the related NRT/STC/NTC user products are degraded from 17:37:28 to 17:51:27 and from 19:18: 50 to 19:31:50
  • SLSTR data and all the related NRT/STC/NTC user products are degraded from 17:37 to approximately 21:52.

Due to a Copernicus Sentinel-3A spacecraft manoeuvre performed on 15 October, data degradation is expected for both SRAL and SLSTR instruments.

All the related NRT/STC/NCT user products are degraded from 06:15 to 06:45 UTC.

Due to a planned Copernicus Sentinel-3B manoeuvre executed on 16 October reduced data quality is expected in the following UTC sensing times:

  • SRAL data and all the related NRT/STC/NTC user products are degraded from 06:52 to 07:28 UTC
  • SLSTR data and all the related NRT/STC/NTC user products are degraded from 06:52 to 09:15 UTC.

Calling on all interested users of Sentinel data, who would like to submit their results, turning their experiences into 'success stories'.

If you have a good story to tell, of how any of the Sentinel satellites are producing data that bring benefit to your work and/or to society, please contact the Sentinel Online Editor Malì Cecere at: mali.cecere@ejr-quartz.com with your proposals.
