On 23 November 2014, an eruption started on Fogo Volcano (Cape Verde), almost 20 years from the previous one. 

During the forthcoming EGU General Assembly in Vienna, Austria, which will take place from 12-17 April 2015, ESA is organising the session "Scientific Exploitation of Copernicus Sentinels - EO Research and Innovation".

As a reminder to anyone interested in contributing to this session, the deadline for submissions is 7 January 2015.

For more than 18 months, engineers have been carefully piecing together the many components that make up ESA's Sentinel-3A satellite. Now hosting an array of instruments to provide a wealth of information about Earth's oceans and land, the satellite is complete, standing proud for testing.

During the forthcoming EGU General Assembly in Vienna, Austria, which will take place from 12-17 April 2015, ESA is organising the session "Scientific Exploitation of Copernicus Sentinels - EO Research and Innovation".

Interested users who wish to participate to this session are encouraged to submit their contribution before: 7 January 2015

Users are informed of the planned maintenance for the Sentinel scientific/other use data hub for the installation of a new major release of the rolling archive software.

Marking a first in space, Sentinel-1A and Alphasat have linked up by laser stretching almost 36,000 km across space to deliver images of Earth just moments after they were captured.

ESA invites proposals for the SPOT-5 Take 5 call, which aims to select potential sites of observation for a new phase in the SPOT-5 mission.


The deadline for proposal submissions is: 8 December 2014

With the first Copernicus satellite now operational, ESA and the DLR German Aerospace Center have signed an arrangement on managing and accessing Sentinel data.
