As hundreds flee lava and ash spewed from Mexico's Colima volcano, its continuing eruption is being tracked not only by ground instruments but also from space. Starting last month, Colima is one of 22 active volcanoes worldwide being monitored by satellites.
Today, the Copernicus Sentinel-3A satellite has taken another step towards being fully 'operational' as the first data from its Ocean and Land Colour Instrument are made available to monitor the health of our planet.
ESA is pleased to announce the first official release of Sentinel-3A OLCI Level 1 data products in the Sentinel Data Hub.

Today we are interviewing Dr. Jan Kucera of the Joint Research Centre (JRC), who can provide insights on how data of the Copernicus Sentinel satellites are improving emergency services.

As a consequence of two anomalies that occurred on the Sentinel-2 PDGS ground segment respectively on Friday 14 and Monday 17 October 2016, the publication of Sentinel-2A products in the data hubs (e.g. APIHub, CopHub) is delayed by approximately 24 hours.

Short service interruptions might occur on Monday, 17 October 2016 from 13:00 CEST to 17:00 CEST, for maintenance activities aiming to improve the service performances on the Copernicus Services Data Hub.

Sentinel-1B data anomaly

Sentinels team up

12 October 2016

The Copernicus Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 satellites have found signs of an ongoing glacier dislocation between two recent massive ice avalanches in Tibet.

Further to the announcement of 5 August, a sample product featuring the forthcoming Sentinel-2 Level-1C product formatting change is now available for download.

A dissemination anomaly which impacted the availability of a few Sentinel-2A products daily, from the beginning of May till 27 September 2016, has been identified and resolved.
