The size of the ozone hole fluctuates – usually forming each year in August, with its peak in October, before finally closing in late November or December. Not only will the hole close earlier than usual in 2019, but it is also the smallest it has been in 30 years owing to unusual atmospheric conditions.
Due to a ground segment anomaly the near real time processing (NRTI) and dissemination of Copernicus Sentinel-5P data from orbits 14432 (26 July 2020 15:13:16) to 14441 (27 July 2020 07:26:26) has not been performed.
The Copernicus Sentinel-1 POD configuration will evolve by end of July 2020 to improve the orbital accuracy of Sentinel-1 PRE, NRT and NTC products by correcting the GPS Antenna Reference Point (ARP) location. The impact on the POD was identified by the CPOD Quality Working Group (QWG), by the presence of non-negligible empirical forces and significant differences between Sentinel-1A and Sentinel-1B, but a thorough investigation was necessary to identify the root cause of it. The new ARP values are documented in the Sentinel-1 Properties for GPS POD document.
As a consequence of a ground segment contingency, the restoration of Copernicus Sentinel-2 long term archived products is temporarily suspended as of yesterday evening.
