Rapid ice loss in a remote Arctic ice cap has been detected by the Sentinel-1A and CryoSat satellites.

Due to onboard software maintenance, Sentinel-1A will be unavailable on 20 January from 7:30 to 18:00 UTC. No SAR products will be available during this time frame.

While sailing south of Africa on an around-the-world voyage, Matteo Miceli was suddenly alerted to a massive iceberg in his path. Almost 4 km long, the iceberg drifting near the Prince Edward Islands was detected and tracked by European satellites.

On 23 November 2014, an eruption started on Fogo Volcano (Cape Verde), almost 20 years from the previous one. 

During the forthcoming EGU General Assembly in Vienna, Austria, which will take place from 12-17 April 2015, ESA is organising the session "Scientific Exploitation of Copernicus Sentinels - EO Research and Innovation".

As a reminder to anyone interested in contributing to this session, the deadline for submissions is 7 January 2015.

For more than 18 months, engineers have been carefully piecing together the many components that make up ESA's Sentinel-3A satellite. Now hosting an array of instruments to provide a wealth of information about Earth's oceans and land, the satellite is complete, standing proud for testing.
Radar images from the Sentinel-1A satellite are helping to monitor ground movements of the recently erupted Fogo volcano.

During the forthcoming EGU General Assembly in Vienna, Austria, which will take place from 12-17 April 2015, ESA is organising the session "Scientific Exploitation of Copernicus Sentinels - EO Research and Innovation".

Interested users who wish to participate to this session are encouraged to submit their contribution before: 7 January 2015

Users are informed of the planned maintenance for the Sentinel scientific/other use data hub for the installation of a new major release of the rolling archive software.
