Description: A huge plastic pollution event in the generally idyllic Caribbean Sea inspired researchers to use Copernicus Sentinel-2 data to track floating plastic. Motagua river, located in Guatemala, has been reported to be the most polluted river in the area of the Honduras Gulf. Since dense plastic patches and large Sargassum macroalgae trajectories have been reported here, researchers realised it was an ideal location for investigating Copernicus Sentinel-2’s sensor capabilities
