An unexpected power outage occurred on Friday 22 March afternoon at the Svalbard ground station which significantly affected the nominal data reception capabilities for the Sentinel-1, -2, -3 and -5p satellites.

The power was restored relatively quickly, but a number of systems had been affected, requiring additional time for the stations operators to restore the nominal services.

The nominal availability of the products cascading from data acquisitions at Svalbard for these missions was critically affected in consequence, either irrecoverably, or subjected to long delays resulting due to the necessary reconfiguration work which had to be carried out at the station following the power loss.

The exhaustive list of the impacted datatakes is reported on the Copernicus Dashboard here, in association to the event reported on 22 March 2024.

It is further highlighted that the production associated to some of the delayed datatakes is still on-going and planned to be completed within the next couple of days.
