Time lapses of cyanobacteria

Title: Time lapses of cyanobacteria on the Guadiana River

Description: This image features screenshots of three time lapses, produced with a custom script on the EO-Browser web-platform for cloud computing processing of remote sensing data. The images were generated using Copernicus Sentinel-2 L2A products, and feature the distribution of cyanobacteria on the Guadiana River in Alentejo, Portugal, close to the Alqueva dam.

These maps are important to identify the time of year when blooms occur, thus enabling to provide the basis of an early warning system. Observing patterns and correlating such information with, for instance, weather conditions, the Copernicus Sentinel products can be an important management and decision support tool for all local stakeholders.
