A new version of the Sentinel-3 Altimetry Technical Guide is now available and provides an in-depth description of the products, algorithms and instrument performance for the mission's Altimetry component.

A new version of the Sentinel-3 Altimetry Technical Guide is now available and provides an in-depth description of the products, algorithms and instrument performance for the mission's Altimetry component.

The Copernicus Sentinel-3 mission is jointly operated by ESA and EUMETSAT to deliver operational ocean and land observation services.

The technical guide provides:

  • Detailed information on the altimetry products and algorithms, ranging from Level 0 to Level 2
  • Descriptions of the altimetry payload, consisting of the SAR Radar Altimeter (SRAL), Microwave Radiometer (MWR), Doppler Orbit determination and Radio-positioning Integrated on Satellite (DORIS) instrument, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and the Laser Retro-Reflector (LRR)
  • Information on the Calibration and Validation tasks
