Description:
These images from the Copernicus Sentinel-2A satellite were acquired on 16 October 2016 and 2 April 2018, and show the two glaciers (Aru-1 and Aru-2) that collapsed and the deposits of the resulting giant ice avalanches. The 17 July avalanche travelled 8 km and reached the Aru lake, the 21 September avalanche travelled 7 km. The image from 2018 shows the situation with the glaciers 20 months after the first collapse.
