Data Products

Sentinel-6 Data Products

Data products for the Copernicus Sentinel-6 mission will be offered free of charge via EUMETSAT's EUMETCast service and the EUMETSAT Data Centre.

The following products will be publicly available:

Near-Real Time (NRT) Short Time Critical (STC) Non Time Critical (NTC)
  • Primarily for operational meteorological agencies (wind and wave data)
  • Products split by satellite dump/granules (per ground station with 10-minute chunks)
  • Products are within three hours of data acquisition
  • Products are available in NetCDF and BUFR formats
  • For ocean modelling and assimilation
  • Product split by pass (pole to pole)
  • Products are delivered within 36 hours of data acquisition
  • Products are available in NetCDF format
  • Highest quality data intended for climate studies and research
  • Products split by pass (pole to pole)
  • Products are delivered within 60 days of data acquisition
  • Products are available in NetCDF format

The initial release after six months will be the NRT and STC low-resolution products.

A systematic reprocessing of all NTC products is expected to be undertaken every one or two years. This process will keep both the current and historical products aligned with the latest baseline, taking into account improvements and new algorithms in the processing chain.

NRT and STC products will be released to the Sentinel-6 Validation Team (S6VT) in Spring 2021. This will be a limited release of data, offering the community the opportunity to contribute to the early data quality activities.
