Data Products

There are different data products associated with the three levels of Sentinel-5 data processing:

  • Level-0 products contain time-ordered Instrument Source Packets (ISP). Level-0 products are archived but not distributed to end-users.
  • Level-1B products include geo-located and radiometrically corrected Top-Of-Atmosphere (TOA) earth radiances.
  • Level-2 products consist of geophysical quantities derived from processing measurement data provided in the Level-1B product.

There are two types of processing modes foreseen for Sentinel-5 data: Near-Real Time (NRT) processing and reprocessing.

NRT processing is performed within strict limits from the time of instrument sensing. The NRT timeliness requirements for Sentinel-5 are:

  • Level-1B :
    • less than 135 minutes from sensing
  • Level-2:
    • less than 165  minutes from sensing

Reprocessing is the capability to generate new or updated Level 1 and Level 2 Sentinel-5 products using new or improved algorithms or calibration key data, starting from input data archived in the EUMETSAT Data Centre. The reprocessing mode is only operated for dedicated reprocessing campaigns.
