New Sentinel Online launched

29 December 2020

The Sentinel Online website—main provider of scientific-technical information on the Copernicus Sentinel missions for the past eight years, has now taken a new dimension.

As a consequence of a ground segment contingency, the nominal availability of all Copernicus Sentinel-2 Level-2A products on 28 December between 00:00 and 14:00 UTC sensing time was prevented.

Several Data Hub services are suffering an infrastructure issue since today 22 December 2020 at 05:00 UTC.

Due to an issue that occurred at Ground Segment level, the Near Real Time Copernicus Sentinel-3 OLC, SLSTR and SRAL Level 1 and 2 products starting from approximate sensing time 07:30 UTC on 22 December to 07:00 UTC on 23 December 2020 will be delayed.

The current Sentinel Online website, which has been active for eight years as the main provider of scientific-technical information on the Copernicus Sentinel missions, is due to change—next week it will take on a whole new dimension.

Collision avoidance manoeuvres were executed on Copernicus Sentinel-1B to reduce the risk of collision with an object, potentially occurring at 08:33 UTC on 20 December 2020.

Due to an issue that occurred at PDGS level, the Near Real Time Copernicus Sentinel-3 OLC Level 1 and 2 products from approximately sensing time 06:30 to 08:30 UTC on 21 December 2020 could be delayed.

The infrastructure incident on the Data Hubs, which occurred at 05:00 UTC on 22 December 2020 has been fixed.

Scientists have used satellite data from the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission, combined with the Sentinel-5P satellite, to detect individual methane emissions from space.

As a follow up to the news regarding the quality warning for SO2 and HCHO, it can now be confirmed that the background calibration is being correctly performed and that the quality of the near real time processing is no longer degraded from the 15 December.
