An expansion of the observation scenarios will be available on 20 October for Copernicus Sentinel-2A, and 23 October for Copernicus Sentinel-2B. The following new areas will be included:

  • Pacific Islands (e.g. Tuamotu, Austral Islands, Kiribati, Juan Fernandez, Archipelago.) 
  • Bermuda Island
  • Sargasso Sea.

Seasonal wetlands are common in Mediterranean climates. They flood during rainy seasons in autumn and winter and dry-up in summer. Precipitation changes in these areas have profound effects on the dynamics of wetlands, affecting plants and animals that inhabit them. These wetlands can suffer changes in their hydrology, becoming transformed into permanent lakes or completely drying-up—but Copernicus Sentinels are making a difference.

Due to a scheduled maintenance on the Copernicus Sentinel-3B satellite on 26 September all payloads were passivated and no science data were generated during the following time sensing window:

  • OLCI: data unavailable from 08:13:21 to 11:19:23 UTC
  • SRAL: data unavailable from 08:43:56 to 11:19:55 UTC
  • SLSTR: data unavailable from 08:51:16 to 11:20:20 UTC.

A Danish R&D project is developing an automatic sea ice product service, which can meet the increased demands for better and more timely sea ice information, using the extensive amount of free and available data from the Copernicus Sentinel satellites, along with novel machine learning techniques for satellite data fusion and sea-ice information retrieval.

A new version of the Copernicus Sentinel High Level Operations Plan (HLOP) document has been released.
The nominal production of Copernicus Sentinel-2 data has encountered a contingency preventing the production of about 30% of all new acquisitions between 30 September 09:54:50 UTC and 1 October 08:36:40 UTC.

ESA is pleased to announce the official release of the of Copernicus Sentinel-5P Aerosol Layer Height product on the Copernicus Sentinel-5P Pre-operations Data Hub. The products are available in Near Real Time, Offline and Reprocessed timeliness.

The SciHub access point of the Copernicus Open Access Hub experienced unscheduled downtimes for the OpenSearch API on 29 September 2019, from:

  • 06:30 to 7:38 UTC
  • 10:23 to 10:52 UTC.
As consequence of on board activities performed on 26 September the following Copernicus Sentinel-3B data is missing:
  • OLC  Near Real Time L1/L2 FR/and RR from 11:51:39 to 18:01:06 UTC and from 2019-0926T184412 to 20190927T054804
  • SLSTR Near Real Time  L1/L2 from 12:48:41 to 15:19:41 and from 20:28:30 to 03:54:48
  • SYN Short Time Critical data from sensing time 12:48:41 to 15:19:41 UTC and from 20:28:30 to 03:54:48 UTC
  • SRAL Near real Time and Short Time Critical L1/L2 from 12:49:54 16:31:39 UTC.

Due to on board activities performed on 26 September OLC/SLSTR/SRAL Near Real Time, Short time Critical and Non Time Critical Copernicus Sentinel-3B data are missing between 13:00:00 and 14:30:00 UTC (orbit 7398).
