ESA’s new Sentinel Online: innovation at your fingertips

ESA’s technical platform for the Copernicus Sentinels launched a new version of its Sentinel Online website, quadruplicating its traffic to help user uptake of Sentinel missions’ data.
In our digitally intensive society, the visual appeal of a website plays an important role in guiding a user through the process of finding information.
The new Sentinel Online makes information about Sentinel data more accessible with its modern, minimalistic presentation. The website is also optimised for mobile devices - making it literally accessible to everyone, anytime, anywhere.
Since the new look was launched, the Sentinel Online website has increased its traffic substantially, with some 4000 users daily seeking information about Copernicus Sentinels.
The website has implemented story-scrolling versions of Sentinel Success Stories, enabling readers to learn about data use-cases in a more stimulating experience.
Everything you need to know about the Sentinel Missions is now available in wiki-style repository called SentiWiki, where relevant and up-to-date information is presented in an appealing, synthesised form.

1400

Already 1400 users have accessed the SentiWiki pages daily, a four-fold increase on the previous Sentinel Online website.
All information on how to access open and free Earth observation data from the Sentinel missions can be found by navigating to the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem. Through a link to SentiBoard, the website guides you to real-time information about Copernicus operations.
Readers can also find the new Dunia feature: an all-in-one, easy to use platform for processing and disseminating Earth observation data over Africa, that also works on mobile phones.
The new Sentinel Online website helps promote user uptake of Sentinel data. With a less-is-more approach, the information on Sentinel missions is more easily accessible.
Welcome to our new Sentinel Online - welcome to innovation.
