ODESA

ODESA is the answer to the requirements originally expressed by the MERIS Quality Working Group (QWG) and by the MERIS Validation Team (MVT), and more widely by the international user community of MERIS. It will be extended to SENTINEL-3 SLSTR, OLCI and SYN products. Prelimary works have been done in this way to support the SENTINEL-3 prototype but this work should be continued to support the IPF. Today, the public distribution of ODESA supports only the MERIS level 2 processor.

ODESA supplies the user community with a complete Level-2 ground segment processing environment including source code, embedded in an efficient framework for testing and for validation activities. These validation facilities include match-up processing and analysis, data set selection and analysis, level 3 products generation and analysis and the possibility to perform remote processing, e.g. for testing purpose and for validation activities requiring large amounts of data.

The ODESA source code level 2 distribution allows users to implement their own version of any sub-module of the ODESA L2 processor. The distribution package contains the source code, required libraries, GUI, tools and associated documentation, providing any user an extraordinary opportunity to customise the level 2 processor using its own algorithms and auxiliary data. A test data set is delivered within the package, allowing the user to test the local installation. This package allows the user to run the nominal level 2 software (identified as the reference configuration in the delivery package) and run user-modified level 2 software (modified source code including possible LUT overwriting).

Currently supported computer platforms are:

  • Linux kernel 2.4+ (32 or 64 bit)
  • For Windows OS, a virtual machine with Linux as a guest is requested in order to run the Linux version
