ESA is pleased to announce the first official release of Sentinel-3A SLSTR Level 1 Non Time Critical (NTC) data products in the Sentinel Data Hub. Please note that the Sentinel-3A SLSTR Level 1 Near Real Time (NRT) data were already released on 17 November 2016.

Today we are interviewing ESA's Dr Nuno Miranda, who is responsible for the quality of the data from the Sentinel-1 mission.

A series of earthquakes occurred in Central Italy on 18 January 2017. A Sentinel-1A acquisition covering the area is planned for today at approximately 17:00 UTC.

Related SLC products will be generated shortly after acquisition and made available on the various data hubs.

Due to a Sentinel-2 MMFU unavailability on 14 January 2017, data were lost between 13:58 and 17:02 UTC, impacting orbits 8172 to 8174.
Due to a planned on-board MMFU software update, Sentinel-2A data will not be available on 17 January from 02:04 UTC to 18:50 UTC.
The Sentinel Collaborative Ground Segment initiative was introduced in 2011 by ESA and its Member States, to foster the Sentinel data exploitation in Europe .

Further to the announcement of 27 December 2016, Sentinel-2A MSI decontamination is now planned to take place between 09 January 2017, 07:30 UTC and 10 January 2017, 06:30 UTC.

Due to a planned MSI (MultiSpectral Instrument) decontamination, Sentinel-2A data will be unavailable for approximately 24 hours between 6 and 7 January 2017.

Further to the news of 20 December related to a Sentinel-3A OLCI anomaly, users are informed that nominal acquisitions resumed on 20 December 2016, 11:48 UTC.

Sentinel App season update

20 December 2016

A new update of the ESA Sentinel App is coming soon. The latest changes have brought us the acquisition plans and swath animations for Sentinel-1A, Sentinel-1B and Sentinel-2A, a powerful visualisation of Sentinel product availability on the geographic and temporal dimensions, the highlights of the Sentinel-1 mission achievements and even a more complete picture of the satellite surroundings in the 3D model section, with the Earth, the Moon, the Sun and the stars now visible.
