We are pleased to announce the release of new processing baseline SL_L1.004.04 and SL__LST.004.05.00 for Copernicus Sentinel-3 concerning the following products and cut-dates:

  • SLSTR Level 1, NRT and NTC timeliness, on 2022-01-20 10:05 UTC
  • SLSTR Level 2 LST, NRT and NTC timeliness, on 2022-01-20 10:05 UTC

More information about the changes and the characterisation of the new products is available in the following product notices:

Note: the new SL_2_LST processing baseline has no impact on the content of the products, so there is no specific product notice issued.

The associated L1 and L2 Sentinel-3 Product Data Format Specification documents are available on Sentinel Online.

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3A orbit correction manoeuvre, SLSTR products and SYNERGY products degradation is expected for sensing time from 19/01/2022T07:35:25 to 19/01/2022T07:35:25

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3A Moon calibration operation a degradation is expected for the following Copernicus Sentinel-3A products:

  • SLSTR products for sensing time from 18/01/2022T07:49:48 to 18/01/2022T08:40:18
  • SRAL/MWR products for sensing time from 18/01/2022T07:50:48 to 18/01/2022T08:20:26
  • SLSTR products for sensing time from 18/01/2022T08:21:10 to 18/01/2022T08:40:18
  • OLCI products for sensing time from 18/01/2022T08:33:55 to 18/01/2022T08:40:18
  • SYN products degradation as consequence of SLTSR and OLCI products degradation

Release of Sen2Cor 2.10

17 January 2022

We are pleased to inform the Sentinel-2 users community that a new version of Sen2Cor (Release 2.10) is available under: https://step.esa.int/main/snap-supported-plugins/sen2cor/sen2cor-v2-10/

This new version supports the forthcoming update of Sentinel-2 products with Processing Baseline 04.00.

Stand-alone installers for the three operating systems Linux, Windows and macOS are now on-line. All three versions require a 64-bit platform.

Regarding the algorithm, the main improvements of the Sen2Cor 2.10 processor compared to previous version 2.9 are:

  • Support of the L1C generated with the future (14.9), current (14.6) and previous (14.5 and 14.2) Products Specification Document as input.

  • Improvement of Scene Classification.

  • Improvement of Atmospheric Correction.

  • Provision of band B01 also at 20m resolution.

  • Addition of L2A Quality Indicators.

  • Usage of the Copernicus DEM@90m horizontal resolution.

  • Addition of a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) in the L2A metadata according to CARD4L SR Specifications.

For any further details, including installation step, and an overview on the evolutionary upgrades applied to Sen2Cor 2.10, please read the release notes which are provided under: https://step.esa.int/main/snap-supported-plugins/sen2cor/sen2cor-v2-10/

Following the previous news on the Sentinel-1B anomaly that occurred on 23 December 2021, further attempts to reactivate the proper functioning of the satellite power system’s affected unit were executed, but were not successful.

All necessary investigations to identify the root cause and possibly fix the issue are on-going.

The satellite remains under control, the thermal control system works properly and the regular orbit control manoeuvres are routinely performed.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3B orbit correction manoeuvre, SLSTR IR products degradation is expected for sensing time from 12/01/2022T08:18:51 to 12/01/2022T08:28:27

Due to Copernicus Sentinel-3A orbit manoeuvres, SLSTR and OLCI products degradation is expected for the following sensing times:

- from 07/01/2022T00:04:18 to 07/01/2022T00:17:36

- from 07/01/2022T02:06:48 to 07/01/2022T02:17:25

Following the previous news on the Sentinel-1B anomaly that occurred on 23 December 2021, the resuming of the operations was carefully prepared including the on-board configuration changes preventing the anomaly to occur again.

However, during the preparation of the recovery operations, it became clear that the initial anomaly was a consequence of a potential serious problem related to a unit of the power system of the Sentinel-1B satellite. The operations performed over the last days did not allow to reactivate so far a power supply function required for the radar operations.

Further investigations to identify and remedy the root cause will be performed over the next days.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Users are informed that from 08:00 to 18:00 UTC of the 04th of January 2022 there will be a maintenance activity on the Open Access Hub (SciHub and APIHub).
During the maintenance window user might experiencing short download interruptions.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause to your activities.

Copernicus Sentinel-1A was unavailable between 24/12/2021 19:32 UTC and 25/12/2021 12:08 UTC, due to an onboard software anomaly.

No SAR data were acquired during this period. Data acquisitions taking place indicatively within 2 hours before this period may have been affected.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
