ESA is pleased to announce that a major milestone in the Copernicus Ground Segment transformation will be achieved on 28 April 2022, with the transfer to operations of the new Sentinel-2 production services, following the transfers to operations already successfully completed in early April 2022, for Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-3.

The systematic production operations for Sentinel-1A and Sentinel-1B (stand-by) were taken over on 6 April 2022, by SERCO Italy and DLR, from Airbus D&S, who had successfully ensured this service since 2014.

The systematic production operations for Sentinel-3A and Sentinel-3B were taken over on 5 April 2022, by ACRI-ST and SERCO Italy, from Telespazio Italy, who had successfully ensured this service since 2016.

The systematic production operations for Sentinel-2A and Sentinel-2B will be taken over on 28 April 2022, by ATOS and Cap Gemini Italy, from Thales Alenia Space, who have successfully ensured this service since 2015.

From 28 April users may experience slight variations in the end-to-end timeliness for Sentinel-2 data publication, which are expected to stabilise in the near future.

ESA would like to thank all the teams involved in the Copernicus Ground Segment operations and on the transformation activities.
