The Copernicus Sentinel-1 Wave Mode performance will be improved with a change performed on the beam 2, by optimising the antenna configuration. This change is characterised by a higher incidence angle of beam 2 (equivalent to swath 4 of the Stripmap mode) and new antenna gain settings, that will allow a substantial gain on the Signal to Noise Ratio.

The new configuration for Wave Mode data will be effective for Sentinel-1A on 22 June 2021 at 13:02 UTC, and for Sentinel-1B on 24 June 2021 at 14:00 UTC.

No Wave Mode data will be acquired:

  • for Sentinel-1A on 22 June 2021 between 11:00 UTC and 13:02 UTC
  • for Sentinel-1B between 22 June 2021 11:00 UTC and 24 June 2021 14:00 UTC.

No SAR data from any mode will be acquired during the ground station passes used to perform the upload of the new configuration onboard the satellites,

  • for Sentinel-1A between 11:10 and 11:24 UTC on 22 June 2021
  • for Sentinel-1B between 11:41 and 11:56 UTC on 24 June 2021
