A minor evolution of the Sentinel-1 product format is foreseen, impacting the format of the Level-1 and Level-2 operational user products.
For the Level-1 products, the changes aim at introducing azimuth denoising information (in addition to the range vector already available). The combined usage of the two vectors will allow users to perform a full 2D denoising of Sentinel-1 products.
For the Level-2 products, some minor evolutions are included to improve the operational usage and scientific exploitation of these products.
The new product format specifications are available in the Sentinel-1 Product Specification.
A set of Sentinel-1 sample products following the new product format specifications are made available online to allow users to get ready for the update. These sample products are accessible on the Scihub.
It is foreseen to start generating and making available Sentinel-1 products in line with the new product format specifications in Q4 2017. Additional information will follow in the future.
