Copernicus Sentinel-1B unavailability

01 July 2021

Copernicus Sentinel-1B was unavailable on 30 June 2021 between 08:12 UTC and 19:14 UTC, due to a Payload Data Handling and Transmission (PDHT) sub-system software anomaly.

Before performing the re-initialisation of the PDHT memory that requires as well a reset of the SAR, it was decided to anticipate the upload of the SAR Optimised Wave Mode beam 2 in the SAR EEPROM, an operation initially planned on 1st July 2021 (See previous news on 25 July 2021).

Five station passes were needed for these two different types of operations, which resulted in the overall availability of Sentinel-1B mentioned above, on 30 June 2021. No data were generated during this period, and data acquired slightly before this period may have been affected.
